Berkel was founded in 1898 by a Dutch butcher who discovered a fast and new way to slice through meat, resulting in the world's first meat slicer. As early as 1907, Berkel meat slicers found their way into England, Belgium, and more. They later expanded to the United States where they continue to grow.
