Bettcher Industries, Inc. was founded in 1944 by Louis A. Bettcher with a capital investment of $800 in a small machine shop in Cleveland, Ohio. Meat companies could not purchase new equipment at the time because of World War II, and Bettcher kept their machinery running by repairing it instead. This experience gave Bettcher an adept understanding of the butchering and machinery processes, and resulted in the invention of many machines and systems.
