Electro Freeze was founded in 1929 by Charles Ericson, who produced soft-serve ice cream in New York City. Later, the business was sold to Henry C. Duke. In 1946, Duke and his son, Gene, pioneered the world's first soft serve ice cream machine for Dairy Queen, and Electro Freeze has been at the forefront of frozen treat dispensers since then. In 1961, the company invented the first soft-serve machine to serve chocolate vanilla twist cones with one pull handle, as previous models required two handles to be pulled for service. Today, the company manufactures over 40 models of soft-serve, shake, combination, slush, cocktail, gelato, and flavor dispensing machines.
